The latest broad programme for preparing the JSP is as follows.

This programme is kept under regular review, as it will need to respond to changes in national government policy (such those associated with implementation of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act) and the progress of individual Local Plans being prepared by the South West Hertfordshire districts.

Key milestones so far….

2020: We began a conversation about ‘SW Herts Your Future’ in February 2020 with an online poll. We asked those living and working in the area about the issues that were important to them.

2021: We undertook a series of workshops with key stakeholders and created a Youth Forum to help inform our draft vision. The workshops helped build a greater understanding of the opportunities and challenges currently facing the area whilst anticipating changes and trends that could inform how we live, work, move, and play in the future. In Autumn 2021, a Statement of Common Ground was signed by all authorities, strengthening the commitment to the JSP between the six authorities and setting out the process for preparing the JSP.

2022: During late Summer 2022, we carried out a formal public consultation on the JSP (Regulation 18 Plan). Entitled ‘Realising Our Potential,’ this was based on the draft vision and a series of suggested objectives for South West Herts. We contacted over 3,000 groups / individuals directly. Social media adverts were seen by almost 45,500 people and the website was visited 8,700 times. Over 3,400 responses were received.

2023: We published a shared vision and set of principles that will be used to inform the JSP as it progresses.

A short summary, outlining the work we have done to-date and the next steps (as of May 2023) is available here.
